Choosing a size
Managed agents come in four sizes. Each size determines how much compute the agent’s host has. Pick based on how heavy the agent’s work is. You can upgrade a running or stopped agent to a larger size in place; moving to a smaller size means recreating the agent, because the disk can only grow.
| Size | vCPU | Memory | Storage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 2 | 4 GB | 40 GB SSD | Lighter workloads and everyday assistants |
| Medium | 4 | 8 GB | 80 GB SSD | Standard workloads with more headroom |
| Large | 8 | 16 GB | 160 GB SSD | Heavier, compute-intensive workloads |
| XL | 16 | 32 GB | 320 GB SSD | The heaviest workloads: large builds, big datasets, many parallel tasks |
All four sizes ship with the same core integrations preinstalled (chat, a web console, support, and a headless browser) and can install any of the integrations in the registry.
Which size to choose
Section titled “Which size to choose”- Small is a good default for a personal assistant, a chat bot, or an agent that mostly calls tools and models.
- Medium gives extra memory and CPU for agents that run larger local tasks, hold more in the workspace, or juggle several integrations at once.
- Large is for compute-heavy work — think large builds, data processing, or running many things in parallel on the host.
- XL doubles Large’s CPU, memory and disk for the heaviest workloads.
If you’re unsure, start with small. You can move up later.
Pricing
Section titled “Pricing”Managed agents are add-ons on your Alfe subscription, billed monthly or annually. Your plan includes some capacity, and you add more as your fleet grows. For current sizes, allowances, and prices, see the pricing page.
All usage — compute, model calls, voice, storage — draws on your single tenant-wide credit pool. See The credit pool.
Changing size
Section titled “Changing size”You can upgrade a running or stopped managed agent to a larger size in place from the dashboard: open the agent, go to Machine size, and choose Upgrade machine. The agent keeps the same server, files, and memory. It goes offline for about 2–5 minutes while the host resizes, and billing is prorated for the rest of the period.
Downsizing isn’t supported in place, because the disk can’t shrink. To move an agent to a smaller size, recreate it at the new size, which rebuilds the agent on a fresh host. See Lifecycle & status.
